| Event Overview – Irish Tenor, Ronan Tynan intones “as the storm clouds gather across the sea,” it seems that the world has truly “gone mad.” As the clouds continue to thicken and grow darker around the world, people everywhere are looking for signs of hope, peace, order and some measure of tranquility in a world that offers precious little respite. Just perhaps here in Central Oregon we can make a difference? This new and exciting alcohol, drug free and family-friendly community event will be a positive, enlightening and uplifting experience to celebrate the New Year. |
| Description of the Walk – The starting line will be on the Southside entrance to the Juniper Swim and Fitness Center and will follow an approximate 1.8 mile course east on Franklin Street to 10th Street on to the Pilot Butte Trail near Lava Lanes Bowling Center. This path then leads under Hwy 20 into Pilot Butte State Park. We will then proceed up the Butte to the Summit. After a short Non Denominational and Inspirational Program lead by the Rev. Teri Hawkins of the Unity Community of Central Oregon we will retrace our steps back to the JSFC. |
| Promote
Youth Fitness and Eliminate Childhood Obesity
– The Smith Rock Race Group,
producers of this event the Smith Rock 15K Sunrise Summer Classic
and the Diamond Lake to Mt. Bachelor Relay are committed to
promoting Youth Fitness and helping eliminate childhood obesity. Through this
event we have invited local schools, youth groups and organizations
to participate in the Just Run! Program
www.justrun.org . Children in grades K-8 are invited to participate FREE and each youth group of (10) requires at least two registered adults. Contact your local school, Parks and Recreation District or Youth organization and encourage them to participate. |

Course Assistance – Walk Monitors will be stationed along the route. Participants are expected to follow all traffic safety laws to ensure the safety of all participants. |
| Special Amenities – Each participant will be given a Glo Stick to carry with them on this Walk. A post Walk party with seasonal beverages and light refreshments will be served on the Pool Deck at JSFC. Live entertainment by local musicians is also planned. |

Walk Start – The starting line will be on the Southside parking lot at Juniper Swim and Fitness Center located at 800 NE 6th Street Bend Oregon 97701. The Walk will start at 6:00 PM. |
| Packet Pick Up – Packets can be picked up at Juniper Swim and Fitness Center from 12-4 PM on Saturday, December 29, 2007. You are strongly encouraged to pick up your packets at this time. Packets not picked up on Saturday will be available (not guaranteed) prior to the Walk on Monday afternoon at the starting line at JSFC beginning at 4:30 PM. |
| Cost
– Adults $25.00 for the Walk $35.00 after December 15th
which will include a race t-shirt. Family rate: $40.00 (Maximum of 2 Adult T-shirts per family) before December 15th and $50.00 after December 15th. High School students $15.00 by December 15th includes T-shirt $20 after December 15th. Pre school children are Free, No T-shirts. For insurance purposes and safety, all minors must be accompanied by a registered adult. No entry confirmation will be sent. |
| Proceeds - Walk will benefit the Central Oregon WishGranters organization. This community organization provides special needs requests for Central Oregon residents in a variety of areas. Independent contributions can be made either through our online race registration ACTIVE.COM or included with your mail in registration form. Your generosity is greatly appreciated! |
